Rachael Hudson
The Managing Director of Byrdie's, Rachael has taught Kids Club and Kids Camp for the past two years. She has an extensive background in childcare education and loves creating with children while encouraging their self-expression. She has been working with clay for the past 5 years, and enjoys the tactile gratification and emotional processing she receives from pottery. As a ceramic artist herself, she is constantly inspired by the kids she teaches!
Emiko Stroud
Emiko is a special education educator and community organizer based in New Orleans, originally from Oakland, CA. Coming from a large family of educators and being the third of ten siblings, teaching has always been a part of her life. She began working with children through summer camps and babysitting, eventually becoming an assistant camp director. Since entering the special education field in 2020, she has remained passionate about supporting youth. Influenced by her mother, a professional SEL coach, Emiko deeply values social-emotional learning and is excited to explore how it can intersect with the arts.

Join us for a week of creativity and movement at our Clay & Movement Summer Camp! Our special week-long camp blends a morning of pottery (9am–12pm) with an afternoon of art and movement (12–3pm). Designed for ages 6-12, this will be a supportive time of creativity and play.
Morning Pottery - (9am–12pm; Drop off at Byrdie’s Pottery)
Kids will design and create their own ceramic pieces. This camp is perfect for kids who love to make art, work with their hands, and dive into deep creative exploration. Led by teaching artist, Rachael Hudson, students will learn a range of ceramic techniques including pinching, coiling, slab-building, and even get a chance to try the pottery wheel! We’ll also explore the history of pottery, the geology of clay, and play fun and engaging games along the way.
All materials, tools, and firing are included. Fired pieces will be ready for pickup 3–4 weeks after camp.
Afternoon Yoga & Movement (12–3pm at Byrdie’s Pottery)
Emiko Stroud will lead SEL and Movement activities with the children. Focusing on emotional learning and activities.
